the villager

Look, it's a photo of my great-great-great-grandmother from Siberia.  Just kidding.  It's just me.

It's been raining a lot here and I have a deep-seated hatred of umbrellas, so I have to don a big furry hat and an oversized wool shawl to keep me dry.  When I realized I was wandering the streets of Madrid dressed as a villager from another country in another century, I couldn't resist sharing.

  1. That's a fab photo. You look like you step out of a magazine spread when you dress up as villager with a furry hat and blanket on and I just look like I've had an atomic cloud explode over my head - where am I going wrong? You look great - very artistic and I have to say Garance Dore would be saying told you "its trending!". Love it. I have a blanket cape which I've not worn this year - maybe I should just because it's probably the last chance I'll get to wear it before spring finally shows up.

P.S. I don't do umbrellas either - bane of my mother's life as it's considered bad luck for Chinese ladies to get their heads wet after they've just had a baby so I just freaked her out each time I went out in the rain after I had my boys. Actually I did it just to wind up my whole family because I'm that way inclined :o)

    1. So funny. Is it ok to get your head wet in the shower? Just outside I imagine, right? Everyone has their superstitions... By the way, thanks for the compliment but I've seen you in your furry hat and I think it looks great. Just saying.

    1. Thank you! Sometimes I get a little carried away with photoshop fun. More addictive than videogames even.

    1. Ha! That is awesome. It is sort of wonderful to be able to justify piling on the layers like this to combat the rain, but when it's rainy day after day, the magic sort of gets sucked out of it. Sun's finally out though, so no more complaining for me!
