another feather

I know I'm not alone in craving smaller, more delicate pieces of jewelry lately.  I used to wear all kinds of huge and crazy pieces, but now I just sort of want to feel light and breathe easy, and somehow small thoughtful delicate bits of metal are having that effect on me.

Enter Another Feather, a small independent jewelry line created and hand-crafted by Hannah Ferrara in Asheville North Carolina.  What I love especially about her work is that despite being minimalist and understated, it is still tough and edgy.  A fine line to walk.

Some of their pieces challenged my brain in an Escher way as I tried to envision how they would look on, like that little arc ring.  But they have so many lovely photos in their lookbook that you don't have to really strain yourself.

  1. Mmmmm so beautiful. I have been feeling smaller pieces lately too. These are perfect in that they have the amazing craftsmanship and originality I want, but they don't overwhelm.

    1. Exactly, they don't overwhelm. I think that's what's so appealing, the thoughtful design executed with such balance and restraint.

  3. Cool! I've been really feeling the small, minimalist, yellow gold jewelry bug, too. Have you checked out the Catbird website (based in Brooklyn)?

    1. Yes! I love Bird, they drive me crazy. I actually went to their store when I was in Brooklyn a few years ago, determined to get myself a first knuckle ring, but I was told that because of my tapered fingers they just wouldn't stay on... Boooo!! So disappointed. But yeah, I covet pretty much everything they sell.
