going platinum

Happy New Year everyone!  Yes, I am about a month late to the party, but honestly, this little internet hiatus I've taken has been so wonderful.  In this hyper-connected world we live in, I feel like sometimes that's just what we need in order to breathe a little, grow a little, change a little...

And speaking of change...  I was threatening to do this before the holidays and I bet you didn't think I'd actually do it.  Hell, I didn't think I'd actually do it.  But now that I'm living in Blonde Town, I have to say, I love it here and I think I'm going to stay a while.

If ever anything warranted an onslaught of selfies I think it's this...

Before the roots grew in it was all just a little too elfish and my own reflection startled me in the mirror, but now that it's grown out a bit and I've had some time to get used to it, I absolutely love it.  I feel like a rock star, a mother of dragons, and, oddly enough, very much like myself.  I'm planning on going lighter, but this was all done in one marathon session and was as pale as we could get it without major damage.  Next time I go in we'll see if we can reach platinum.

So, yeah, I'd say it's a new year.

ps- That's the Everlane sweatshirt I'm wearing, another recent acquisition.  In love with that too.  What can I say, it's a love-filled year.

How's your 2014 going so far?  Any major changes for you?

  4. Well if anyone was going to pull it off - it was going to be you! And the roots coming through a little - adds that little punky edge - sweet! Nice to see you again and loving the selfies - more, more, more!

    1. Thanks Sue! I'm super happy with it, and I do think the roots are key to that. I'd like to go lighter but am in no hurry to cover those roots up so I'm not quite sure what to do at this point. But regardless, I'm pretty happy. As for more selfies... be careful what you wish for! Ha!

    2. It's Debbie Harry hair and in my eyes, Debbie Harry is a Goddess. You only need to look at her in the Heart of Glass video. My childhood icon, believe it or not.

    3. Yes! Totally Debbie Harry hair. She was one of my inspiration photos when I was contemplating doing this, though the makeup of course, needed a bit of updating ;) Have you heard her new stuff? Are you a fan of it?

    1. Hi Alex! Thanks so much! The cut is a growing-out version of a pretty bad one, but I'm happy with where it's at now. Ever since I lopped my long locks off about a year ago I've been bravely experimenting with different cuts, some work, some not so much, ha! Thank you though!

  7. Absolutely love the mother of dragons reference. This hair colour looks so killer on you. Love it with your dark eyebrows. It's such a bold look. Well done for taking the plunge and going for it! xx

    1. Thank you! It is pretty bold, it somehow feels even bolder than when I put hot pink streaks in my hair (admittedly, a long time ago). But bold is just what I needed right now!

  10. Fantastic! Platinum is on my "One Day..." list. I'm Asian, so it's a LOT of upkeep, but you only live once etc.

    1. Thanks! If it's on your "one day" list, you should just do it now, it's not like it's gonna get any easier, right? And yes, it's upkeep, but if you get tired of it you just go dark again! I say go for it, and then let me know!

    1. Thanks! Those purple shots were so good... Which ones do find the most tempting? Do you think you'd actually do it?

  12. It looks good on you. But I think that it would be better for me to stay in dark colors. In any way, thank you.

  13. You are pretty good at this color, but to choose the best option, it's worth a little experimenting with color and long.
