soundsuits

If you are in New York please promise me you will go see this.  Artist Nick Cave is bringing his soundsuits to Grand Central Station, for one week only, and it's happening RIGHT NOW.

Photos and videos of more astounding soundsuits...

Nick's first soundsuits were made of twigs.  Who knew twigs could be infused with so much personality?   These guys are just so darned lovable and expressive!  Here Nick Cave speaks a bit about the process and how it all began:

My favorites though are the furry suits, joyous riots of color and texture, best when viewed in motion (like when you get to 0:34 in the video below).

And one more video just for kicks, where some lucky UCLA students to actually get to wear and rehearse and perform in these suits.  Can't even imagine how fun that is...

Bonus space-age suits, cause I can't resist:

I love this stuff.  But also I have to admit, I just love it when dancers move into other disciplines and create magic like this.  Nothing wasted, everything influences everything, it all comes together.  So inspiring and exciting.

  2. I've seen these in person. I believe one of our local museums has one of them in the permanent collection as well.
