motobreakertrenchy

Lately I feel like 3.1 Phillip Lim just keeps getting it right.  And while he's always done leather jackets ridiculously well (I still think about, and pine over, this motorcycle jacket from Fall 2010, I honestly just can't get it out of my head), this new lightweight hybrid thing is pretty cool too.  Part motorcycle jacket, part windbreaker, part trench coat, it's a little strange, but I could see getting tons of joyful wear out of it.

Check it out...

tassels and fringe

Back in Spring 2012 Ann Demeulemeester went a little tassel crazy.  While I honestly have no desire to look like a lampshade or drapery (Carol Burnett's Went With The Wind anyone?), I do think that this distilled version of it is totally beautiful and absolutely wearable.
Granted, it's sold out everywhere but here, so obviously I'm a little late on this one.  But doesn't it seem like we could just loop a beautiful long tassel through a buttonhole somewhere?  Doesn't that seem like a wonderful idea?
Barneys layered the blazer over some more tassels, and even though that's a lot of fringe, I actually think that works beautifully too.  What do you think, will you add a tassel to your life?

reed krakoff

Give the man some leather, he will make magic.

Possibly the perfect elegant slightly dressy everyday shoe?  Part loafer, part oxford, part bootie, all beauty.

In black and also in umber, at net-a-porter and saks

But that's not all.  No, the man will whip you up amazing gloves and bags too.  Yes, he also does fabric, but it's the leather goods that are calling out to me.   See what I mean after the jump...

the perfect beanie

It may not look like much, and you might be thinking, who in their right mind would pay $135 for a beanie?!  But I, my friends, have found the holy grail of hats.  This baby soft alpaca knit hat from Ann Demeulemeester has the perfect weight, the perfect slouch, the perfect ribbing... What I'm trying to say is, it's perfect.  So who would buy such a thing?  Me.  That's who.

after the jump a few Demeulemeester items that haven't yet made their way into my closet...

the original?

Remind you of anything?  Say, the Elizabeth and James Cohen shirt that you lusted after for years?  Remember that shirt?

Well, I'm not suggesting this is exactly the same, but the similarities are striking, and for $55 it may be worth trying out.  It also comes in red, which I love, and blue, which come to think of it, I also love.

But these shirts are not from some high street knock-off company, these are from 'The Original Outdoor Company', Woolrich.  No kidding.  Sometimes it's good to shop outside the box.  See a few more original outdoor pieces that caught my eye after the jump...

marc

I'm usually not a big fan of Marc by Marc Jacobs.  I know, I'm in the minority here.  I just always find this line too ironic, and in my opinion, it's too expensive for irony.  But this season he seems to have stepped it up a notch, it has a more vintage vibe, very elegant and a little bit 1940's.  And I have to say, I'm loving it.

more marc after the jump, including a few coats that make my heart flutter...
