senior moments

Artists Riitta Ikonen and Karoline Hjorth collaborated to produce a stunning series of photographs entitled Eyes as Big as Plates.  The work was produced and shown in their native Finland and Norway (respectively), as well as in Tokyo and New York, using local seniors as models and inspiration, often tying in their own cultural heritage or local folklore to their wearable sculptures and portraits.  Such striking images, such original vision...

I'm amazed at the variety (and strength) of emotions these photographs bring up in me.  That's the mark of successful art if you ask me, it gets us to discover and experience and explore in a way that regular life doesn't generally offer.  So exciting to see this kind of creativity.

Amazing, right?
