light layers


It's officially spring here in Madrid.  We've done daylight savings time, there's little blossoms blooming everywhere, it's chaotically alternating rain and sun in a totally unpredictable way, and it is finally warm enough to go outside without a big coat on.  Rejoice!  Since it's been a while since my last outfit post, and nothing makes me happier than lots of layers (they call me an onion around here) and I thought I'd show you how I've been piling it on lately.  Nothing fancy, just simple, comfy, easy lightweight layers.

On the right: hat - forte forte // jacket - the kooples // scarf - zara (ancient, but it's just a sheet of jersey fabric - DIY anyone?) // bag - cos (last season) // blouse - zara // jeans - fidelity // boots - moma

As you can see, a lot of these items have been in my closet for ever, so you might not be able to get the exact same pieces now, but here are some other options currently available...

glorified sweats


I think I'm going to be living in my T by Alexander Wang tanks this summer.  They're perfectly lightweight without being sheer and clingy, and the fabric feels both deliciously soft and sturdy enough to handle real everyday life.  This outfit's basically sweats, I'm not gonna kid you, but sweats done in a way that I think actually looks pulled together and pretty damn cute (if I do say so myself).

safety orange



Me and my neon orange nails.  Remember these neon polishes I got a while back?  While I'm not in love with the magenta, this safety orange color is really rocking my world right now.  It's also fun because it changes so much depending on the light I'm in, going from an almost tame coral to a practically blinding tangerine.

neon pedi


In case you were wondering, the neon nail polish I got last week goes on surprisingly matte.  Not as matte as if I'd put a mattifier on, but not nearly as glossy as your average polish.  I don't mind one bit, but I thought I'd let you know.  Also, I swear I did not buy it to match my sheets.  That would be weird. 


My ballet teacher laughed at my toe nails the other day and asked me if they were purple.  I thought it was an odd question.  If you want to call it purple that's fine with me.  Whatever you call it, it makes me smile when I look down at my feet.

neon


When I was little I used to think my mom was crazy because she thought pink and orange were great together.  Well mama, as usual, you were right.  Lately I can't get enough of the combination, as you can tell here from a few of my recent purchases.  Also it seems I'm still celebrating color in a big way.  Must be the weather.  Last night we slept with the window open for the first time this year, and it makes such a difference in my happiness and energy level when I wake up, just to smell that morning air drifting in.  Happy summer everybody!
