light layers


It's officially spring here in Madrid.  We've done daylight savings time, there's little blossoms blooming everywhere, it's chaotically alternating rain and sun in a totally unpredictable way, and it is finally warm enough to go outside without a big coat on.  Rejoice!  Since it's been a while since my last outfit post, and nothing makes me happier than lots of layers (they call me an onion around here) and I thought I'd show you how I've been piling it on lately.  Nothing fancy, just simple, comfy, easy lightweight layers.

On the left: hat - Anne Demeulemeester // sunglasses- Paul Frank // necklace - mashallah pendant I've had (literally) since I was born // hoodie - American Apparel // parka - Filippa K // t-shirt - T by Alexander Wang // pants - Zara //  sneakers - Zara
On the right: hat - forte forte // jacket - the kooples // scarf - zara (ancient, but it's just a sheet of jersey fabric - DIY anyone?) // bag - cos (last season) // blouse - zara // jeans - fidelity // boots - moma

As you can see, a lot of these items have been in my closet for ever, so you might not be able to get the exact same pieces now, but here are some other options currently available...

  1. i never encountered a blogger that made me wanna buy the exact items they have and than you came along:) so i've been eyeing that zara blouse since your post. i usually get disappointed when i get there because of the fabrics. we have good well stocked stores here in belgrade and i love zara but most of the pretty things is horrible to the touch. and yet you showed me one that isn't :)
    i love both outfits just my taste these springy days. :)

    1. Thanks so much for your sweet comment! I know the quality at Zara is questionable sometimes, and for sure their pieces won't last decades in your wardrobe, but they really do make some good stuff sometimes. I think it's best just to avoid synthetics, but when they do linen, cotton, wool, and silk, they usually do a pretty good job at it.

  2. I love the design of your outfit pics, it's really creative! In the UK it's just on the verge of getting warmer. I haven't yet packed my winter coat though, London weather is fickle :)

    1. Thanks! And yes, I totally hear you, I think spring weather is fairly fickle everywhere. I haven't actually packed my winter goods away yet, just rejoicing in the fact that I'm not tied to the same wool coat day in and day out anymore! So glad you stopped by and commented, I've just been to your blog and it's lovely. Bookmarking it now to take a closer look when I have some more time!

  3. I love these full outfit posts - it gives me such great ideas. I don't know which one I like best - I like both equally for very different reasons. You have somehow managed to make a beanie and trainers and hoody combo look incredibly covetable and chic with the addition of the sunglasses. And you have pulled off a lovely bohemian (not boho wafty floaty boho) look with the fedora and Zara shirt and jacket. But absolutely loving those boots (sadly but a pipe dream for me). BTW - we still do not have that shirt on our website - it is doing my head in, I'm checking daily though I notice we have a different more girly number using an almost identical fabric which I am very tempted by. Oh heck - another Zara order on it's way!

And yes, never underestimate the power of some dark sunnies for a little added mystique, ha!

  5. The weather frog said "Winter comes back this weekend" but still I like looking for fresh new spring and summer outfits. Its new to me that the quality of Zara's clothing has gotten so bad. Until now I found some great items on the Nelly site but they are so expensive for me. Its hard to decide which one I'll take.

    1. I actually never am disappointed by the quality of Zara's clothing, maybe I'm really lucky, or selective about my purchases from there, or maybe my expectations are different, but it honestly seems that the price-quality ratio is pretty solid.
