pull & bear

Yet another branch of the behemoth Inditex, Pull & Bear is one of my favorites, mostly because the name is ridiculous.  What is it supposed to mean?  Don't they check with native speakers before naming huge corporate entities?  Aside from the fabulous name, they also, from time to time (as is the case with most of these chains) have some amazing stuff.  I stopped in today (yes, on my way home, as usual) and found so many things I liked that I'm going to have to go back this week and sort through it all.  For now, here's what caught my eye:

hello moto

3.1 Phillip Lim, making moto jackets like no one else.

If I had an extra $1,500 lying around, for which I had no real practical use, I think I'd pick up one of these two jackets.

Gorgeous as these they are, I have to admit I still dream about this one from way back when.

behind the ears

Did you see this on the Sartorialist the other day?

Those ear cuffs pretty much blew me away.  I couldn't find the exact pair she's wearing (if any of you know what they are please let me know in the comments), but I did find some similar pieces.

The best resource I found was Anni Jyrgenson, a very young lady who also has a blog (worth checking in on; both she and her (even younger) sister have great style).  Plus she makes these insane ear cuffs.

blanco

The problem with living in the center of town is that there's always some shop or other I just have to duck into on my way home.  Because they're all on my way home.  Today it was Blanco, another member of the great Inditex empire.  I picked up this button-down shirt in white:

I love it because if feels crisp and sort of formal, but at the same time reminds me of pajamas.  Best of both worlds.

After the jump, a few other items I considered ringing up as well...

cozy up

Today I just want to bundle up in thick knits, drink hot cocoa and watch old movies.  My day hasn't gone that way yet, what with me having to actually do stuff and all, but there's no reason I can't make my evening all about that.  Thinking about cozy knits got me over to Inhabit to check out what they're up to, and what they're up to is a sale!  Check out this oversized cashmere turtleneck with the ingenious side zip details.  It's things like unexpected zippers that always win me over.

And this seems to me like the ultimate in cozy blanket cardigans.  And I don't know if I've ever felt anything knitted with baby camel yarn, but I'm guessing it's super soft.  Cause baby camels must be soft, right?

Check out more of their luxurious knitwear (on sale, all of it) after the jump...

sneakers

I have two pairs of sneakers right now.  My munich and my chuckies.  I love them both so very much.

But recently I've been thinking maybe it's time for a new pair.  A different shape maybe, a different air.

pleather pleasure

Today I went and returned the sleeveless coat (please, it's cold outside!  I need sleeves!  What was I thinking?!), but of course I couldn't come home empty-handed.  This little baby came home with me from Zara.

I got it in black.  Honestly the photos on the website don't do it justice.  I know it's pleather, but it's high quality pleather with a decent feel to it and not nearly as much sheen as you see in the photos.  In person it reminds me a bit of an A Wang bag, like a Rocco-Brenda hybrid or something.  Maybe I'm just kidding myself here, but I'm pretty pleased with it.  Also love that I can put my camera (by which I mean my husband's camera) in it with plenty of room to spare.

Of course, a few other bags caught my eye...

made her think

These rose gold talon earrings really did make me stop and think.  And the thought was "I want these".  Is that what the name of the line refers to?

Regardless, there is some gorgeous stuff from Made Her Think over at shopbop right now.  It's the rose gold that's really getting to me, but really I'm loving a lot of their pieces, delicate yet with a bit of an edge.

mongolian ears

What?!

Ginormous faux mongolian fur ear muffs?!  I can't honestly tell if I have to have them or if I have to laugh really hard and then run in the opposite direction.  Oh, wait, they come in pink and red too.  In case the cream ones were too, you know, understated.

Would you?  I think if they were priced lower I would seriously consider it.  But it does seem like a lot to pay for wacky tufts of acrylic fluff.

ssense ssale

Yes, I'm still shopping online.  Hey, it's cyber monday, isn't that what we're supposed to be doing?  (By the way, when did they invent that one?  This is the first year I hear of it; am I just totally behind the times?)  Today we hit the sale rack at ssense, one of my all time favorite online stores.

Is this thing perfect or what?  And that zipper detail in the back, just killing me.  Those Smythe ladies sure know what they're doing.

Or how about this reversible leather & fur jacket from Preen?  You can be a hot tough biker chick one day and a rock n' roll yeti the next, whatever your heart desires.  I don't think I'd ever wear it the apeman way, but the other way?  That is a gorgeous item.

kooples couples

The Kooples, one of my favorite french lines, is having a "private sale", though I honestly have no idea what that means.  What I do know is that the discounts are pretty decent, and it's only through Nov. 30, so there's a sense of urgency here folks.  But before we get to that, take a look at these great shots from their lookbook.  I almost like their men's line better, but they're both so good.  Their coats in particular are amazing in person, the heft of the fabrics and the tailoring are impeccable.

See some of the individual pieces, on sale of course, after the jump...

the big event

Just methodically going through all the major sales; got to be efficient in my mindless fantasy shopping, you know.  Shopbop is having what they call The Big Event right now, where you get bigger discounts the more you spend.  Of course there's too much good stuff for me to post, but I edited my favorite pieces down into two outfits.  If you get everything on my list you'd get a whopping $1250 off.  Let's not talk about how much you'd have to spend to get there though.  Here's my first imaginary cozy fall outfit:

let the sales begin

Happy Black Friday everyone!  I'm not shopping today (are you?),  but I am starting to browse all the sales.  First up, J. Crew, with 25% off and free shipping when you use the code YOURGIFT.

The stylists at J Crew are so damn good at layering; I think this double plaid shirt look is ingenious.

kinfolk

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  On this day, in our little apartment in Spain, over delicious homemade pizza, my husband and I give thanks for many things.  They are too many and too wonderful to mundanely list here, let it just be said that we are happy and grateful.  And though I often (or always) wish they were closer, I am thankful for the fact that though most are spread far over the globe, I have so many loving and beloved people in my life.  Today I'm thinking about coming together, about gatherings, about how wonderful it would have been to have one today, but also about how in less than a month I will be having my own homecoming.

Have you heard about the new magazine Kinfolk?  I'm going to download the first issue now for my ipad, but I thought I'd show you one of their sweet videos, it just seemed so appropriate today.

sleeveless

How do we feel about sleeveless coats?  Apart from the fact that I personally think they're gorgeous, I wonder if the impracticality of them outweighs the cool factor?  Before you answer, keep in mind that you can layer them over all kinds of things, like leather jackets (to end up with one of those so on-trend leather-sleeved coats we're seeing everywhere), bulky sweaters, even other lightweight coats and blazers.  And that makes them somewhat more practical, right?  Also keep in mind that I just bought one today and am trying to decide whether or not to keep it.   Some inspiration while you mull it over:

stash

Looking for a new way to store your ipad?  I am.  I bought myself an ipad last month (loving it, in case anyone had any doubts) but refused to spend money on a cover.  I know, ridiculous.  Wrapping it in a t-shirt is far from acceptable.  So now I'm hunting.  I found this wonderful etsy store called Stash, and they have beautiful cases for all sorts of technological items.  Like ipads.

Gorgeous, right?  Something about the heavy textured fabrics and the somewhat masculine design just makes me want to hold them.  As in, own them.

mohawk general store

Spent my sunday morning browsing at the Mohawk General Store.  That's the beauty of the modern age, you don't have to actually leave your house to waste away your hours, you can do it from the comfort of your home, still in your pjs and fuzzy robe.

This over-sized wool blend motorcycle jacket by funktional was the first thing that got me.  It's all the toughness we want in a moto jacket, plus a ton of soft and cozy and a dash of extra large masculine.  Perfect for winter.  And such a good price too!  Seriously contemplating this one.

And while we're talking cozy, how about this snuggly Raquel Allegra dress?  Seems like it'd be the perfect winter layering piece.

See tons more covetable pieces, including bags and shoes, (excluding a few standouts that merit their very own post tomorrow) after the jump...
